Position Purpose
The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician is responsible for facilities maintenance, the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of various ground support equipment in compliance with FAA Part 145 regulations and the repair station's manuals. This role ensures all GSE assets, facilities, and grounds remain in safe and reliable operating condition. Reports directly to the Facilities Manager.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The work environment is often not temperature/humidity controlled. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Ground Support Equipment (GSE), including tugs, air conditioning units, ground power units (GPU), hydraulic mules, fuel trucks, lifts, and other related support equipment.
- Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and engine (gas/diesel) systems using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
- Conducts functional and operational tests following maintenance and repairs to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
- Maintains complete and accurate documentation for all maintenance actions, including shop work orders, discrepancy reports, in accordance with FAA and company requirements.
- Ensures all work is performed in accordance with the Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and applicable FAA regulations.
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs on facility infrastructure, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, roofing, and general building repairs.
- Conducts regular facility inspections and safety walks to identify hazards, required repairs, or preventative maintenance opportunities; reports findings and apply corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT, and FAA Part 145 regulations.
- Supports landscaping, waste disposal, and general maintenance of exterior property and grounds.
- Assists the Facilities Manager with scheduled repairs, urgent facility issues, and emergency response activities.
- Operates material handling equipment, including forklifts, golf carts, and other powered industrial trucks.
- Performs occasional Class C driving duties, including transport of loaded trailers.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment; ensures tools and equipment are stored and maintained properly.
- Supports calibration programs by assisting with the tracking, organization, and upkeep of tools requiring periodic calibration.
- Coordinates with the logistics department to request parts, tools, and supplies necessary for job completion.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment failures, or quality concerns to management. Reports in Safety Management System (SMS).
- Participates in ongoing training and remains current on applicable procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Additional job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in GSE maintenance or heavy equipment repair.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical manuals.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals.
- Valid CA driver’s license with an acceptable record.
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening per company.
Preferred Qualification
- Previous experience working in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station
- Technical certification in automotive/diesel/equipment maintenance or related field
- Knowledge of aviation ground support requirements and equipment
